DESCRIPTION
MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA is a protective modified potassium silicate-base mineral coating, suitable for the protection and decoration of exterior walls. The inorganic binder used in the formulation of the silicate-based mortar reacts chemically with the mineral surfaces via a process called "silicatization", ensuring perfect adhesion to the surface.
MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA has a high degree of permeability to water vapour, whilst maintaining unchanged the breathability of the surface; special hydrophobic substances in the product render the coating impermeable to water.
MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA is particularly suited to the protection of old mortar and for the restoration of historic town centres, in that it permits a pleasant aesthetic effect full of soft shadows.
MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA conforms to the dispositions of DIN 18363.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
May Be Applied To:

•  Lime and cement and lime-based surfaces.
•  Compound mortar or equivalent mortars.
•  May not be applied to plaster or Gypsumboard.
•  May not be applied over old coats of organic-based paint (washable or quartz-based water-base paint).
•  Use over concrete surfaces is not recommended as the product cannot protect against the attacks of carbon dioxide, the principal cause of deterioration in concrete, because of its high degree of permeability.

PREPARING THE SURFACE
Mortar surfaces:

•  Ensure the surface was laid at least 28 days before.
•  Check its condition. The surface must be firm. If it is not, replace or consolidate with specific products.
•  Remove any efflorescence by brushing or washing.
•  Old, synthetic paints must be completely removed.
•  Smooth off any irregularities in the surface using BETOMARC 9450150 or RASAMIX 9440160 or other, cement-based products.
•  Remove any dust, bloom and other deposits with a brush.
•  Ensure the surface is completely dry and apply: one coat of MARCOSIL PRIMER neutralising, silicate-based sealant code 0750030 diluted with about 100% water. The dilution must be adjusted on the basis of the surface’s absorption; in the case of extremely powdery surfaces, reduce the dilution and, if necessary, apply two coats of sealant.
•  Apply the MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA in accordance with the instructions described.
  

* (The dilution of the sealant and the quantities to be applied are calculated on the basis of the absorption of the surface and must be determined through preliminary tests on the surface itself).

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Conditions Of The Surface And Surroundings:
Air temperature: Min. +5 °C / Max. +35 °C.
Relative humidity of the air: <80%.
Temperature of the surface to be treated: Min. +5 °C / Max. +35 °C.
Humidity of the surface to be treated: <10%.

•  Avoid applying where there is surface condensation or directly under the sun.
•  After application, exterior surfaces must be protected from rain and damp until completely dry, which normally (at 20 ºC) takes 48 hours.
•  Like all inorganic products, the MARCOSIL PITTURA LISCIA is extremely sensitive to environmental conditions and those of the surface, so it is recommended that these instructions be carefully followed.
•  Dilution: 1st and 2nd coats: 45/50% with h20.
•  Mix the product before using.
•  Number of coats: 2.
•  Lay the product over the surface in a uniform manner using a brush.
•  All tools should be cleaned using water immediately after use.
•  During the application, protect (screen off) surfaces in glass, ceramic, plastic, metal and natural stone.
•  Indicative coverage: 8-10 sq.m. on surfaces of average porosity. It is recommended that a test be effected on the surface to determine the consumption of the product.
  

TINTING
The product is supplied white and may be coloured using the MARCROMIE colouring system. Where different batches of coloured product are used, or to finish a job with the coloured product, it is advisable to mix the various batches to avoid slight variations in tone. For outdoor tasks it is a good rule of thumb to always use material from the same batch, from corner to corner. For tasks where it is unavoidable to continue on a wall with a different batch, do not place the batches contiguously. For the transition point, use any interruptions in the continuity of the surface: moldings, corners, cables, etc.

STORAGE
Maximum temperature for storage: +30 °C.
Minimum temperature for storage: +5 °C.
Stability in original unopened container under suitable temperature conditions: 1 year.

SAFETY RULES
Irritating to eyes and skin. Keep out of the reach of children. In case of contact with the eyes, wash immediately in abundant water and consult a doctor. Protect the eyes/skin.
