POTASSIUM SILICATE FILLER PRIMER/PAINT / SERIES 936

Based on modified potassium silicate, suitable for protecting and decorating outdoor wallsurfaces. High permeability, resistance to atmospheric agents, high filling and masking powers, especially suitable for protecting old plaster and for restoring historic city centers. A mandatory primer on sheetrock and gypsum plasters where lime wash, mineral paints, or slaked lime plasters will be applied. High breathability, absorbs toxins, prohibits bacteria that forms mold.

Complies with the requirements of DIN regulations 18363.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

DESCRIPTION
MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO is a mineral-based paint containing modified potassium silicate formulated to protect and decorate outdoor wall surfaces.
The inorganic binder in MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO chemically reacts with mineral bases in a process referred to as "silicatisation" to guarantee proper adhesion to the base.
MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO provides high filling and masking power. It also gives the base an excellent ability to breathe, and special water repellent substances present in the product repel water and prevent it from being absorbed.
MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO is particularly well suited to protection of old plaster and restoration of old buildings, as it produces a pleasant appearance rich in soft shadows.
MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO complies with DIN 18363 specifications.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
May Be Applied To:

• Lime and lime-cement plasters.
•  Civil plasters made with mixed plaster or the equivalent.
•  Not for use on chalk or gypsum board.
•  Not recommended for use on concrete surfaces as the product is highly permeable and offers no protection against the attacks of carbon dioxide, the principal cause of concrete decay.

PREPARING THE SURFACE
Plaster Surfaces:

•  Make sure the base has a maturation time of at least 28 days.
•  Check condition of preservation. Surface must be consistent; if this is not the case, reconstruct the surface or consolidate it with specific products.
•  Remote any efflorescence by brushing or washing it away.
•  Level off irregularities in the base with BETOMARC 9450150 or RASAMIX 9440160 or with other cement-based products.
•  Brush off dust, smog and other deposits.
•  Make sure that the surface is thoroughly dry, then apply:
• A layer of MARCOSIL PRIMER code 075003 diluted by about 100% with water only on any portions of the base covered with plaster.
  
• Must be thinned according to the degree of absorption of the base; if the base is very powdery, decreasing dilution and, if necessary, apply 2 coats of insulation.
•  Do not apply MARCOSIL PRIMER to surfaces with organic (synthetic) water-based paints.
•  If there is old organic paint, it will be necessary to use MARCOSIL GRIP silicate connection base to even out absorption.
•  Proceed to apply MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO as described in the instructions.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Condition Of The Environment And The Base:

• Ambient temperature: min. +5°C / max. +35°C with
•  Ambient relative humidity: <80%
•  Base temperature: min. + 5°C / max. + 35°C.
•  Base humidity: >10%.
•  Do not apply in the presence of surface condensation or in direct sunlight.
•  After application, outdoor surfaces must be sheltered from rain and humidity until the product has dried completely, which normally (at 20°C) takes about 48 hours. Like all inorganic products, MARCOSIL RIEMPITIVO is extremely sensitive to the conditions in the environment and on the base, and so it is important to comply with the above specifications.
•  Thinning with water: 1st and 2nd coat 35 - 40%
•  Stir before application
•  N. of coats: 2
•  Apply to base evenly with a brush.
•  Wait at least 12 hours between coats of MARCOSIL
  

RIEMPITIVO.

• Clean utensils with water immediately after use.
•  Protect (shield) glass, ceramic, plastic, metal or natural stone surfaces during application.
•  Approximate yield: 3.5 - 4 m2/litre on surfaces with average porosity. It is best to try using on the specific base to determine consumption.
  

TINTING
The product is supplied white and may be coloured using the MARCROMIE colouring system. Where different batches of coloured product are used, or to finish a job with the coloured product, it is advisable to mix the various batches to avoid slight variations in tone. For outdoor tasks it is a good rule of thumb to always use material from the same batch, from corner to corner. For tasks where it is unavoidable to continue on a wall with a
different batch, do not place the batches contiguously. For the transition point, use any interruptions in the continuity of the surface: moldings, corners, cables, etc.

STORAGE
Maximum temperature for storage: +30 °C.
Minimum temperature for storage: +5 °C.
Stability in original unopened container under suitable temperature conditions: 1 year.

Irritating to the eyes and skin. Keep out of the reach of children. In the event of contact with the eyes, wash immediately and thoroughly with water and seek medical attention.
