MARBLE PLASTER / SERIES 960
Based on a natural mineral binder, MARMO ANTICO yields a porous lined finish reminiscent of the typical look of country style plaster finishes and can create travertine-like effects. It gives exterior surfaces the very elegant austere monumentality of old plaster and/or stone surfaces, giving interior environments aesthetic harmony and functional solidity of great country homes. High breathability, absorbs toxins, prohibits bacteria that forms mold.
Decorative travertine-effect and/or old plaster effect mineral-based wall coating for outdoor and indoor use.

TECHNICAL DATA SHEETDESCRIPTION
MARMO ANTICO is a mineral wall coating for indoor and outdoor use that gives a finish that is very similar to that of traditional travertine marble.
When it is laid the result always varies, as it is characterized by the shading and color effects that depend on the skill and characteristics of the decorator.
MARMO ANTICO provides a layer of substantial thickness resistant to the aggressive action of atmospheric agents and has a high degree of water vapor permeability.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
May Be Applied On:
- New and old plasters based on hydraulic binders.
- Old paints and wall coatings that are mineral in nature, dry, compact, absorbent and cohesive.
- Mineral conglomerates of various kinds, as long as they are absorbent.
Surfaces should be adequately prepared by following the instructions given in the paragraph ‘PREPARING THE SURFACE’.
Do not apply on freshly painted surfaces.
- Given its predominantly mineral nature, it is not recommended to apply MARMO ANTICO on old synthetic paints (washable quartz emulsion paints and plastic wall coatings).
- It is not recommended for use on outdoor concrete surfaces since, due to its high permeability, the product has no protective powers against the aggression of carbon dioxides, the leading cause of concrete degradation.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Type of binder: air-hardening lime
- Solvent: water
- Viscosity: paste
- Water vapor permeability per UNI EN ISO 7783-2: high, Sd<0,10 m.
- Drying times (at 25°C and 65% R.H.): to the touch in 2-3 hours; it may be painted over after 12 hours (depending on the thickness applied).
PREPARING THE SURFACE
Plaster Surfaces:
- Make sure that the support has a maturation time of at least 28 days.
- Check the state of preservation. The surface must be smooth. If it is not, resurface or consolidate using specific products.
- If mold is present, treat the surface with COMBAT 222 cleanser code 4810222, and with COMBAT 333 reconstruction code 4810333.
- Brush or wash to remove any efflorescence and any old peeling paint. Completely eliminate any raised layers of lime-based or tempera paints.
- Both internal and external fissures must be widened enough to be treated with putty or a similar product.
- Remove any dust, smog or other deposits by brushing.
- Smooth if necessary with RASAMIX 9440160 or with BETOMARC 9450150 or RASOMARC 9500150 according to the type of support.
- Only in the presence of particularly flaky surfaces apply a layer of IDROFIS 4700006 acrylic water-based wall fixative.
Alternatively, on interior applications, apply the solvent free fixative ATOMO 8840001.
- If the substrate is not homogeneous, with presence of old paints, level the surface applying a priming coat of MARCOSIL GRIP 9310019 or a water soluble covering fixative MARCOTHERM PRIMER 4740019.
- Proceed with the application of MARMO ANTICO according to the procedures described under "Application instruction".
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Since the drying and carbonation of MARMO ANTICO, like all lime products, are highly susceptible to the temperature and humidity levels, it is advisable to apply the product when temperatures are in the range +10 °C to +35 °C and the relative humidity of the air <75%.
- Do not apply in direct sunlight.
- After application outdoor surfaces must be protected from rain and humidity until the product is completely dry, which normally takes place (at 20°C) after about 72 hours.
- If the surface does not require the fixative, it is nonetheless recommended to dampen it to prevent the wall from drawing an excessive amount of water from the binder.
- Tools: stainless steel trowel.
- N. coats: at least 2 coats of product must be applied.
- Thinning: ready to be used.
Apply an undercoat to even out the surface.
- After 12 hours apply another coat in order to achieve the thickness required.
- As soon as surface tension starts, apply small quantities of the product, wet on wet, pressing the surfaces and compacting them so as to fill the porous areas.
- Scrape the surface with the blade of the tool, taking care to keep the trowel perpendicular to the surface so as to give the travertine marble vein effect.
- Smooth over the product to compact the surface.
- Clean tools with water immediately after use.
- Indicative yield: 2.5-3 kg /m2 for 2 coats, with reference to smooth surfaces with average porosity. It is advisable to establish the effective yield with a preliminary trial on the surface to be treated.
TINTING
Colors are obtainable via the Marcromie color matching system alkali resistant. When using multiple batches it is recommended to remix the various products together to avoid slight differences in shading. For outdoor tasks it is a good rule of thumb to always use material from the same batch, from corner to corner. For tasks where it is unavoidable to continue on a wall with a different batch, do not place the batches contiguously. For the transition point, use any interruptions in the continuity of the surface: moldings, corners, cables, etc.
STORAGE
Maximum temperature for storage: +30 °C.
Minimum temperature for storage: +5 °C.
Stability in original unopened container under suitable temperature conditions: 1 year.
