Unimarc Finitura Cerata - EXTERIOR VARNISH

UNIMARC EXTERIOR VARNISH / SERIES 312

Based on acrylic resins, water dilutable, for satin finish on outdoor woden surfaces. It absorbs UV rays and contains transparent pigments that allow the wood to be stained without masking the veins. Exellent resistance to atmospheric agents and sunlight, high elasticity capable of following the natural structural variation of the wood. Creates a wax-like effect on all exterior windows, doors and trim.

DESCRIPTION
UNIMARC FINITURA CERATA is a water dilutable product that protects and decorates wood, providing a satin finish. It is based on acrylic copolymer and components able to filter ultraviolet rays, tansparent pigments and micro-cristalline waxes that colour the wood without masking the grain. The product is water repellent and it is particularly suited to protecting and decorating wooden structures even where they are especially exposed to atmospheric agents and the sun’s rays.
The film produced by the application of the paint is particularly elastic and remains unchanged despite the natural structural variations of the wood.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
May be applied to wood indoors and outdoors.
Surfaces of new and old wood, including those previously painted, such as matchboards, lofts, fixtures, balconies, fences, shutters, etc.

• Pay attention to the treatment of woods rich in tannin. To prevent the formation of unaesthetic dark stains apply UNIMARC PRIMER ANTITANNINO cod. 3080001/0019.
• Pay attention to the treatment on woods without tannin with UNIMARC FINITURA CERATA in pastel color. Apply UNIMARC PRIMER ANTITANNINO clear cod. 3080001 to prevent the natural phenomena of yellowing.
  

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

• Viscosity per UNI 8902: 750 + 100 cps at 25°C (Brookfield rotational viscometer)
• Gloss per UNI EN ISO 2813: 20-30 at 60°
• Drying times (at 25 °C and 65% relative humidity): to touch in 1 hour; to recoat after 6 hours.
  

PREPARING THE SURFACE
New Wooden Surfaces:

• Lightly sand down the surface to remove raised fibres of wood.
• Remove any resin using 510076 Nitro thinner.
• Use synthetic filler to cover any imperfections. Sand down the filler and remove the dust.
• Check that the wood is not too damp.
• Apply a coat of colourless impregnating base-coat UNIMARC IMPREGNANTE LEGNO 3130300 diluted at 20-30% with water.
• On outdoor surfaces, it is recommended that two coats of coloured impregnating base-coat UNIMARC IMPREGNANTE LEGNO be applied to increase protection of the surface.
• Sand down the surfaces and apply two coats of UNIMARC FINITURA CERATA, sanding between coats to remove any raised fibres.
  

Previously Painted Wooden Surfaces:

• Sand down the surface to remove raised fibres of wood.
• Remove any coats of old flaking paint and roughen all the previously painted surfaces.
• Remove any resin using 5170076 Nitro thinner.
• Use synthetic wood filler to cover any imperfections. Sand down the filler and remove the dust.
• Check that the wood is not too damp.
• Apply a coat of colourless impregnating base-coat UNIMARC IMPREGNANTE LEGNO over areas of degraded wood in order to render absorption more uniform.
• Sand down the surfaces and apply two coats of UNIMARC FINITURA CERATA, sanding between coats to remove any raised fibres.
  

In order to obtain maximum protection outdoors, it is recommended that an initial coat of coloured impregnating base-coat UNIMARC IMPREGNANTE LEGNO be applied to protect the wood, and that coloured UNIMARC FINITURA CERATA be used for greater protection, selecting the colour desired from the colour chart. Use of the transparent paint is recommended only for interior use.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Conditions of the Surface and Surroundings:
Air temperature: Min. +8 °C / Max. +35°C.
Relative humidity of the air: <75%.
Temperature of the surface to be painted: Min. +5 °C / Max. +35 °C.
Humidity of the surface to be painted: <10%.

• Avoid applying the paint where there is surface condensation or directly under the sun.
• Tools: brush or spray gun.
• Mix the product carefully before use.
• Diluting: ready to be used.
• By sprying up to 5% with water.
• Number of coats: for interior use and in environmental conditions that are not especially harsh, 2 coats may be applied; in other conditions and on new wood, 3 coats are advisable.
• All tools should be washed in water immediately after use.
• Indicative coverage: 5-6 sq.m./l. applying 2 coats on wood of average absorption.
  

TINTING
The product is available in the colours shown on the colour chart. Colors are obtainable via the Marcromie color matching system.

STORAGE
Maximum temperature for storage: +30 °C.
Minimum temperature for storage: +5 °C.
Stability in original, unopened containers stored at suitable temperatures: 3 years.

Use the product according to current health and safety regulations; after use, do not discard the containers in the environment; allow the residue to dry
thoroughly, then treat as special waste. Store out of the reach of children. Use in a well ventilated place. In case of contact with eyes, wash immediately with abundant running water. In caso of ingestion, see a physician immediately and show him or her the container or label. Do not dispose of residues in the sewers, waterways or ground.
