TECHNICAL DATA SHEETDESCRIPTION
UNIMARC SMALTO MICACEO is an acrylic resin and lamellar extender based top coat which protects and decorates metallic supports.
Its Special Formulation Produces:
- Barrier effect: its particular lamellar structure creates parallel extended layers inside the film, which block the penetration of water and atmospheric agents.
- Shield effect: the micaceous iron oxide and aluminium present in the product prevent ultraviolet radiation from reaching the underneath layers, delaying the deterioration of the binder.
For its aesthetic characteristics the product can be employed on various surfaces in order to create fine aesthetic effects.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Can Be Applied On:
- Supports in properly pre-treated ferrous metal;
- Properly treated aluminium and light alloys;
- Galvanized surfaces;
- Plastic surfaces (PVC);
- Supports in new or already varnished wood.

PREPARING THE SURFACE
Ferrous Metal:
- Employ mechanical or manual cleaning methods to remove any flakes which, as a result of lamination, are not perfectly adherent, along with all traces of rust.
- Remove any layers of old paint which are not perfectly adherent and sand the whole surface.
- Remove any grease from the surface using Nitro thinner 5170076.
- Eliminate all traces of dust and dirt.
- Apply 2 coats of UNIMARC PRIMER ANTIRUGGINE 3310107on a perfectly dry surface, allowing at least 6 hours between coats.
- On surfaces particularly exposed to the elements, apply 2 coats of CROMO K70 series 194 synthetic rust inhibiting paint as an undercoat.
- Apply 2 coats of UNIMARC SMALTO MICACEO.
Aluminium and light alloys:
- Remove all traces of oxide by means of mechanical or manual cleaning.
- Carefully remove any grease using suitable alkaline solutions or thinner.
- Remove any layers of old paint which are not perfectly adherent and sand the whole surface in order to coarsen it.
- Remove all traces of dust and, on a perfectly dry surface, apply 2 coats of UNIMARC SMALTO MICACEO.
- On surfaces particularly exposed to the elements, apply 2 coats, as an undercoat, of UNIMARC ANTIRUGGINE 3310107 or PRIMER 1630307.
Plastic (PVC):
- Sand the surface in order to coarsen it slightly.
- Remove any grease using Nitro thinner 5170076 and clean the surface.
- Apply 2 coats of UNIMARC SMALTO MICACEO on a perfectly clean and dry surface.
Woodwork:
- Sand lightly in order to remove the raised wood fibres.
- Eliminate any coats of old flaking varnish and coarsen all the surfaces which have already been varnished.
- Remove any resin using the Nitro thinner 5170076.
- Fill the imperfections with synthetic filler. Rub down the fillings and eliminate any dust.
- Apply 2 coats of primer UNIMARC FONDO UNIVERSALE 3350019 on a clean, dry surface, allowing at least 6 hours between coats or using mat primer MARCONOL ORIENTALITE 1450519.
- Sand the surfaces and then proceed with the application of 2 coats of UNIMARC SMALTO MICACEO
